	CODE IDENTIFICATION

Fully automated reading and identification of codes

The Quality Vision segment includes fully automated identification systems for the recognition of clear type, DOT-CODE A, OCR/OCV, DOT-CODE, Data Matrix Code and Color Code. Depending on the tasks complexity, systems comprised of one or several cameras are used.

Characteristics of clear type reading, OCR/OCV:

· Code can be read by machines and humans alike lesbar
· Labels and prints can instantly be read by machines
· Reading errors can be manually verified and corrected
· Limited information density
· Not all types can be machine read with sufficient security

Characteristics of DOT and Data Matrix Code:

· Standardized code
· Can be dependably be read even if rotated or upside down
· Resistant to production influences such as temperature, dirt, electromagnetic fields
· Large space not necessary for code area
· Adaptable information density
· Cannot be read or corrected by human workers

Characteristics of color codes:

· Code can be read by machines and humans alike
· Existing coding can instantly be used for machine reading
· Reading errors can manually be verified and corrected
· Code can be placed in small area
· Adaptable density of information
